#23 The End

Whilst I am happy to have concluded this exercise in lifelong learning I am extremely pleased that I have learned so much. I enjoyed playing with Flickr and loved revisiting the audio books, along with YouTube and blogging. I think each and every exercise was in itself an enjoyable experience. I have recognised that learning occurs in a wide variety of contexts and our shift to an information society and changes in the workplace means my learning has to be enhanced throughout my working life. I would like to think that I am an active learner and certainly have used different learning strategies throughout these weeks.I would like to thank my work colleagues who assisted me on several occasions.
I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to become a passenger and partake in this wonderful concept.

#22 Audiobooks

I revisited my high school days with this exercise and listened to The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Wow copying without permission or copyright royalties if only it had been like this is my day having to sit through countless fellow students reading chapters of this book in our English class was at times extremely tedious to say the least. It was however so much more pleasant tnis time around and much more enjoyable. I was not entirely unfamiliar with Project Gutenberg as I had an assignment to do at one stage and could not get a copy of a book I required. I came across it by accident on Project Gutenberg and was able to write a reasonable essay after listening to the story.

#21 Podcasts

I spent a little time with this exercise listening to some samples of music from several artists. Some I was very familiar with because I requested them and others I tried just for the heck. I now feel that I am starting to walk the walk. I tried Podcast net and went into The Library Channel and selected Talking with Talis Happy Birthday Library 2.0 and found an interesting discussion between British and American Librarians about Library 2.0 a year after its inception. I found that the Librarians felt the same as I did when I first embarked on this learning curve, a blank stare at applying Web 2.0 to libraries. Basically it is still about how libraries act to the world around them, and at least I have a recognition and acceptance of technology which is now well and truly entranced into my mindset. I can see podcast technology being used to encourage more youth and open up the library to teenagers with music and teen books.

#20 youtube

This is a fun exercise. If YouTube is used by prime ministers and presidents imagine the opportunity for libraries to post videos and advertise themselves, it is a great marketing tool, we could reach millions and get ourlibrary noticed even more. It could be used for instruction.

#19 Web 2.0 awards

So many awards to choose from I eventually selected last.fm It has loads of things to do if you are interested in music. I found the Concerts near you interesting because I could see who was playing around melbourne in November, it even told you how many had booked to attend the concerts so far. The top videos was great to know and hyped tracks allowed you to listen to 30 seconds of that track for free if you signed up. I put in Rob Thomas for my favourite artist and the site told me if I liked him then I might like other people and it recommended some which was great. Iit also presents you with music it thinks you will enjoy and lets you look at what others are listening to. If you are an aspiring artist it will play your music to fans who may like it again for free if you sign up as an artist. Isnt TECHNOLOGY a wonderful thing. Lets welcome it with open arms.

#18 Web based applications

I had a frustrating time with this one went into Zoho writer and pottered with a template for a price list I had made for my own day spa but could not edit it in anyway. I was working from Internet explorer then I tried from Mozilla firefox and managed to produce a document and then my computer froze. I liked the Think Free desktop and its compatability because it worked like Microsoft Office and therefore I knew a little about it and did not need to start from scratch. It is wonderful to be able to create edit and access files from anywhere over the website its all about COLLABORATION. I am determined to create something and publish it. Finally I have managed a post from zoho it is a bit big but never the less I've done it.

#16 WIKI WIKI

This is certainly a fast way to share knowledge and show that we are active participants in the Web2.0 community. It is a fantastic way for Information Services Librarians to harness all of their extensive knowledge. By collecting and employing the loads of knowledge each librarian stores in their memory we can improve efficiency and therefore customer service. We could have a list of resources in one place for answering specific questions and tips on what resources to use. Its great for pooling knowledge, collaboration, and coordination. I took a look at an idea sharing wiki for librarians http://answerboards.wetpaint.com it had some interesting notions

#15 Library 2.0 and Web 2.0

As human needs grow libraries are rapidly evolving to meet those needs and must continue to accomodate the changing needs of the community. Libraries are in unique posistions to embrace technologies Web 2.0 and reinvent themselves by interacting with information in new and unusual formats. I am only scratching the surface, as Learning 2.0 is showing me on a weekly basis it has encouraged me to learn more about evolving technologies and how to apply them to my work.

#14 Technorati

My keyword search for "learning 2.0" brought up 493 hits whilst tags only brought up 112 and blog directory brought up 362 if I took out the inverted commas I received thousands of hits. I found it interesting that if I tagged my posts with certain keywords they were found more easily through technorati search. The top favourite blogs didnt hold interest for me but the top favourite movies and videos were better.
